Emergency Management services our provided through the personnel of Manheim Township Fire Rescue and the Township Fire Chiefs office. Emergency Management is responsible to create and maintain the Emergency Operations Plan for the Township. This plan contains specific information on how the Township will handle large scale emergencies such as floods, earthquakes, severe weather, mass causalty events, large scale fires, among other events. The plan contains all information needed for our emergency responders when these events occur, including how and where to open shelters or obtain valuable resources needed for a specific event.
Manheim Township Emergency Management owns and operates the only mobile command post vehicle in Lancaster County. This unit, specifically built to meet Manheim Townships needs, responds to fire, law enforcement, hazardous material, and mass causalty events throughout the Township. It is used as a place for the officers in charge of an event to gather and share information and intelligence about the incident. The vehicle is equipped with communications equipment, computers, copier and fax, a small meeting room, and various other pieces of equipment. The vehicle is generator powered so it can run for up to 12 hours without electric service!
