Behind the Badge Spotlight:
Hello, my name is Evan Hogan. I joined MTFR in 2011 as a live-In at Station 204. I came to Lancaster County from outside of Pittsburgh to attend Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. I moved out of the firehouse at the end of 2013 for work but continued to do duty crew with the department. As of 2017 I became a part-time firefighter with the MTFR.
Outside of work I enjoy going to baseball games with my girlfriend, and traveling back home to Pittsburgh to spend time with my parents and friends. Whenever I can, I try and get into the woodshop to work on projects.
My dad inspired me to join the fire department. He’s been a volunteer for 30+ years and always had me around the firehouse. Joining the fire department was my way of bonding further with my dad, which has taught me many life lessons and shaped the person I am today.
Best part about working for MTFR is the people. I get to work with people from so many different departments in the area. With this, they bring in knowledge and experiences to share and train the members. Without all the people who taught me from the day I walked in the door at Station 204, I wouldn’t have the career I have now.
